How to get a Library Card
There are five categories of membership at the Flora-Monroe Public Library
Resident-- People who live in Flora and Monroe Township pay property taxes to support the library and are eligible for a free card. They have access to any library in the Evergreen Indiana consortium, and any non-Evergreen library participating in reciprocal borrowing.
Contract--The library contracts with Democrat Township to provide services to any resident who wants to use the library. The resident pays $15.00 for an Individual card. The township trustee pays the balance of the fee, $65. The trustee also pays the $15 Student Card fee for students in the Carroll Consolidated School District, including home-schooled students. Individual card holders have access to the Evergreen Indiana consortium. Student Card holders only have access to the Flora Library.
Non-Resident-- People who live in townships that do not pay property tax to a library or do not have a contract agreement, must pay an annual fee: $80 for an Individual Card. The Washington Township Trustee will reimburse up to 1/2 of the fee. The Carrollton Township Trustee will reimburse 100% of fee. Non-resident patrons have access to the Evergreen Indiana consortium.
Reciprocal-- People who live in a non-Evergreen library district that participates in reciprocal borrowing, and are patrons in good standing, will be issued a Reciprocal Card for use at the Flora Library.
PLAC--Non-Resident patrons may purchase a Public Library Access Card (PLAC) for an annual fee of $65. They must first establish a home library by paying a non-resident fee. The PLAC card can be used at any library in Indiana.
